Just out of curiosity, why does anyone want two MBAs at once?

1) If you want to work in Japan, a degree from Waseda is much more attractive than the one from NTU. So is the degree from NTU if you want to work in Singapore (or even in Vietnam).

Almost all employers in Japan do not understand what the hell NTU is.

2) At least your mother-in-law has something good to say about you during cocktail parties. She may insist her husband to let you run their lucrative business when they retire. Who could be better than you - a man who can do as twice as other men do?

Anyway, I am not sure if typical employers think the same way. :))

Có một point quan trọng nhắc lại là Bill Gates bảo là ông ấy chỉ đủ sức (trí thông minh?) focus vào một thứ thôi.

Em elaborate cái lịch sử này 1 tí nhé. Em thấy bác Quang ngoằng nó vào topic này là không hợp lý, vì cái lợi ích của 2 MBAs nó chả rõ gì cả, chả ai lại đi học 2 cái bằng tương đương ở cùng 1 lĩnh vực cả, đã thế lại còn có 1 năm thì chưa hiểu là có thực là 2 MBAs không hay chỉ dùng tên tuổi để quảng cáo cho cái bằng. Cái này giống như là Columbia với 1 trường nào nữa bên West trước cũng làm vậy, không biết giờ còn không.
Trước mình mới bàn về double majors thôi, như thế nào là personal choice (cũng từa tựa như học trường top hay không ấy). Gần đây kinh tế Mỹ xuống quá, các hãng đang rục rịch layoff. Thế là có những người cả đời chỉ làm có 1 việc, nó lay off cho chả biết làm thêm cái gì. Anh nào mà lại ở trong thị trường focus chỉ có 2 công ty chiến với nhau thôi chẳng hạn, thì lại càng khổ sở. Thế nên trộm nghĩ chả phải chỉ ở trường, lúc nào cũng cần add on skills ở cả lĩnh vực mình và lĩnh vực mới.
Cái gì cũng không nên quá extreme. Không nên đi rộng quá để rồi cái gì cũng biết lơ mơ. Không nên đi hẹp quá để không có đường thoát cho mình khi gặp khó khăn.

Cái chị PA bảo chắc là Columbia và Haas Business School. Mấy cái hợp tác này đặc biệt là EMBA rất nhiều, Wharton - INSEAD,UCLA- NUS (Sing), Columbia - LBS... lúc đó ai đi học cũng đi làm senior rồi chỉ cần network là chính, đi học gặp gỡ tiếp xúc thêm nhiều bạn bè đối tác làm ăn,...
