1. One cannot shelter in something. One can only BE SHELTERED or TAKE SHELTER in something.

2. According to GMAT's strict grammatical rule, sheltering/sheltered if written in such fashion will support "existence" not the Inuit people <--- this is purely my own speculation, not entirely sure.

A dùng led: past tense không đúng khi có: Until recently; are ....
D: present perfect => better

Up until recently .... have sheltered : Cho đến tận gần đây --> hành động nó kết thúc từ gần đây rồi sao dùng hiện tại hoàn thành được, với cả up và until có vẻ thừa, giống kiểu : from ... up to .... -> đáp án D có vẻ không tốt lắm .

Chị thấy câu này chỉ có thể là A hoặc D và cả hai đều hợp lý về mặt ngữ pháp. Nhưng xét về ngữ nghĩa thì nên chọn D. Ko biết D có phải là đáp án ko, ko thì :)
Ở đây, người viết muốn nhấn mạnh việc gần đây thì dân Inuit mới shelter in igloos,... tức đó là ý chính tác giả muốn truyền đạt còn việc lead a nomadic existence thì chỉ là vế phụ bổ nghĩa cho 'the I' thôi vì họ đã lead lâu rồi. Thêm nữa, xem cách dùng thì của câu D cho thấy tác giả dùng đúng kiểu ngữ pháp để làm rõ nghĩa mình muốn nhấn mạnh.
Túm lại là D. Bác mbadream cho đáp án đi?

nhưng đáp án lại là D mà

Mình không biết nhưng mình cũng thấy A rất là hợp lý.
Vả lại cũng chưa nhìn thấy up until recently bao giờ. Thêm up ở đây mình nghĩ là thừa.

Em cũng vote for A vì xét meaning thì shelter chính nhờ việc lead của người Inuit

Những tài liệu không chính thống (kể cả 1000 SC) có rất nhiều câu đáp án sai. Câu này chính xác là D
Note: mọi người nếu ôn theo các tài liệu này thì nên tham khảo nhiều. Nếu bị ảnh hưởng bởi kiểu phân tích câu k giống GMAT thì sẽ có hại nhiều hơn

Đồng ý là câu này nên dùng simple past, nhưng up until thì hoàn toàn okie, không thừa thải gì cả:

Câu này anh cũng cho là D (mặc dù đã đọc câu gốc). "sheltering" ở đây sẽ modify cái gì? Theo GMATland thì nó bổ nghĩa cho cả câu trước đó ==> không rõ nghĩa

Câu này D là hợp lý nhất.

Lâu quá không làm GMAT, cho làm thử , đỡ nhớ.

Câu này đáp án là D.

Vì sao? Lỗi về "verb tense." Dùng present perfect thì chỉ có "recently" là fit thôi.
Câu này gài bấy: "Up until recently" mình không quen dùng, nhưng đó là cách nói đúng.
